In today’s culture tattoos can have many meanings. To the individual getting the tattoo it can symbolize something significant in their life at that time. As such is usually the case, our lives change and the significance of that tattoo loses its value or even cause regret.

The first step is a consultation to evaluate the tattoo, determine how many treatments are necessary and answer any questions you may have. At Bella Sante MD Cosmetic and Laser Clinic, your comfort is very important to us and we take extra time to anesthetize the area properly prior to treatment.

Each tattoo is as unique as the person but most professional tattoos take 5-10 treatments, spaced out in 8-12 week intervals. “Home-made” tattoos take 1-4 treatments. The number of treatments required depends on the amount and type of ink used and the depth it was placed on the skin.

Do all colours of ink disappear equally?

 

Black ink removes the best. Red, orange, pink and warmer colors respond well. Purple and yellow are variable but generally remove well.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?

In many cases, yes, however it is very important to know that over 100 different types of tattoo ink are used today and none of them are regulated by the FDA and Health Canada. Without standardized inks it is difficult to predict the degree of removal of any tattoo.
