Laser Hair Removal

Shaving and waxing get the job done, but they are also repetitive, time consuming and often irritating to the skin. Laser hair removal offers a long term alternative that progressively reduces hair growth over a course of treatments, leaving you with significantly less to manage.

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal uses targeted light energy to damage the hair follicle and inhibit its ability to produce new hair. Over a course of treatments, hair becomes progressively finer and sparser until most patients achieve significant long term reduction. The treatment is suitable for most areas of the face and body and is effective for a wide range of hair and skin types.

At Bella Sante MD in Saskatoon, every treatment is tailored to your skin tone and hair type for safe, consistent results.

background

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser energy is delivered into the hair follicle where it is absorbed by the pigment, generating heat that damages the follicle and disrupts future hair growth. Because the laser targets the follicle during its active growth phase, a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart is needed to achieve the best result.

* TREATS: Unwanted hair on the face, legs, underarms, bikini area, back and other body areas

* TIME: 15 to 60 minutes depending on the area treated

* DOWNTIME: None to minimal. Some mild redness or sensitivity may occur and resolves quickly

*RESULTS: Progressive reduction over a course of 6 to 8 treatments, with long lasting results

FAQs on Laser Hair Removal

Most patients require 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve significant hair reduction. This is because laser hair removal is only effective on hair in the active growth phase, and not all follicles are in this phase at the same time.

Laser hair removal produces long term reduction rather than guaranteed permanent removal in all cases. The majority of patients achieve significant and lasting results, with occasional maintenance sessions recommended to address any regrowth over time.

Most patients describe the sensation as a mild warmth or snapping feeling against the skin. Discomfort varies depending on the area being treated and individual sensitivity, but it is generally well tolerated.

There is no significant downtime. Some patients experience mild redness or sensitivity in the treated area for a day or two, but most return to normal activities immediately after their session.
